“I have been guided to look at this before but on this occasion there was an accompanying felt shift. Later upon waking there was a knowing along the lines of that character really does not have to be taken as real, regardless of thought. The character being confined to thought is a huge clue as to its lack of realness. Likewise thoughts pointing out the positives or negatives of the character. It can be seen when Looked, and remembered, that what is here is an empty vessel.”
Seeing Through the Self Illusion
An 8-Week Guided Experience of Direct Recognition
You may already understand the message.
You have listened to the talks, read the books, followed the conversations. The words make sense. The logic is clear. And yet something quiet remains in the background. A subtle feeling that the shift everyone speaks about has not quite happened.
The sense of being a separate someone is still here. The one who is searching, trying to understand, trying to make awakening happen, waiting for something big.
At some point, a simple question arises:
If the separate self is an illusion, why does it still feel so real?
Understanding does not dissolve this.
Seeing does. Recognition of what you are not does. Seeing what is left when false identities are seen through.
And seeing happens when attention turns directly to experience and investigates what is actually here.
This is the essence of self-inquiry.
Not thinking about truth. Not trying to understand it.
Simply Looking.
When attention turns inward and looks directly, something can be recognised that no amount of thinking can produce.
There is no separate entity at the centre of experience managing life, controlling what happens, or making everything happen.
Nothing mystical needs to appear. What was assumed to be true no longer makes sense.
Registration for Round 3 opens October 10.
The 8-week experience begins the week of October 17, with two live group times available.

Why Most Seekers Do Not See This Alone
The mind does not stay with the question long enough.
Self-inquiry requires a simple but rare movement: to look directly in experience and remain with the looking until it becomes clear whether a separate self is actually present.
The mind tends to move away from this investigation very quickly. It starts thinking about the question, analysing it, explaining it, or replacing it with new ideas.
So the search returns to thought instead of staying with direct looking.
Guided inquiry helps because attention is gently brought back to the same place again and again, until the looking becomes steady enough for the answer to reveal itself.
What Can Become Clear
For many participants, the shift is quiet rather than dramatic.
The sense of being a central “me” begins to lose its solidity. Thought continues. Life continues. But the assumption that there is someone inside life managing it can begin to lose its meaning.
Nothing new needs to be added. Something that was assumed to be true is seen differently.
“The shift was subtle but undeniable, an underlying calm breaking through… liberating, intense, exciting, and peaceful all at once.”
— Lee Mosley
“The biggest surprise was realizing I am not in control… there is no self and no control… it really hit.”
— Previous participant
“There was a deepening into the truth of being… shifted me from seeking to exploring. Now I feel freer and more at peace.”
— Laura Pupo
The Structure
The experience unfolds over eight weeks.
Each week, a new pre-recorded module is released with pointers, questions and exercises that give you a clear direction in which to look.
The questions are simple and precise. They are not asking you to find the right intellectual answer. They invite you to investigate your own direct experience and see what is actually here.
Each module includes 4–5 lessons, with around 90 minutes of recorded material, together with home inquiry to support your looking throughout the week.
But the magic is not in watching the material once.
The magic is consistency.
You keep looking. You return to the same fundamental questions from different angles. You question what you have assumed to be true. Slowly, layers of belief and identification begin to loosen.
Recognition can happen at any point.
But recognition is not necessarily the end of the inquiry. It can be the beginning of seeing from somewhere new. What has been recognised then has time to deepen and stabilise.
That is why this is an eight-week experience. It holds you steadily in the inquiry while giving what is being recognised the time and support to deepen.
The Eight Modules
Module 1: Where Are You Now and Where Are You Going?
Module 2: The Enemy Within
Module 3: The Illusion of Identity
Module 4: The Trick of Language
Module 5: There Is No Doer
Module 6: The Mind
Module 7: Wounding, Trauma, and Deep Looking
Module 8: Who Am I Really?
Weekly Live Group Meetings
Alongside the weekly modules, live Zoom group meetings are offered and recommended, but they are not required.
You can move through the entire course on your own, following the recorded material and doing the inquiry in your own time.
If you choose to join the live meetings, you can bring your questions, doubts, confusion and discoveries. I will help you stay focused, clarify where to look, and keep bringing you back from thinking about the answer to actually looking.
There is also great value in hearing the inquiry of other participants. Often someone else asks exactly the question you didn’t know how to ask, and seeing another person’s inquiry unfold can illuminate your own.
For Round 3, there are two groups:
Saturday group: 08:00 UTC, starting October 17
Monday group: 14:00 UTC, starting October 19
You are welcome to join the group that works best for your time zone. If you cannot attend the live meetings, you can still participate fully in the eight-week experience through the course material and your own inquiry.
Private Community
There is also a private community where you can share what you are discovering, ask questions and connect with others going through the same inquiry.
You can participate as much or as little as feels right for you.
What matters is not how much you talk, how quickly you understand, or whether you have a particular experience.
What matters is that you look.
And I will be there to support you while you do.
Recognition Is a Beginning
Seeing through the illusion of a separate self does not make life perfect.
Thoughts and emotions still arise. Old patterns may still appear. Life continues to be life.
What can change is where you are looking from.
There can be more space around experience, less need to control what is happening, and a growing sense of ease, clarity and trust.
Recognition is not the finish line.
It is the beginning of seeing life and yourself differently.
What This Experience Is and Is Not
This experience is grounded, direct, and experiential. It stays free from spiritual language and focuses on recognition rather than emotional processing or healing.
It is not a therapeutic container, a mindset course, or a promise of permanent bliss. It does not aim to improve or perfect a personal self.
Seeing through the self illusion brings clarity.
Who This Experience Is For
This experience is for sincere seekers who want to investigate the truth of their experience directly.
It is for you if you are ready to look honestly rather than collect more ideas.
You may already understand the message intellectually. You may have had glimpses or shifts. And yet something essential has not quite clicked.
You don't need to arrive with certainty. You do need curiosity, openness, and a willingness to question what you have assumed to be true.
Most importantly, you need to be willing to do the looking for yourself.
What This Is Not
This is not therapy, a self-improvement program, or a promise of permanent bliss.
Emotions, old patterns and wounding may arise during the inquiry, and there is space to meet what comes up. But emotional healing is not the primary purpose of this experience.
The purpose is direct investigation of the assumption that there is a separate self.
There is no belief system you need to adopt and no conclusion you are expected to reach.
I will give you pointers, questions, exercises and support.
But you have to look for yourself.
If you recognise yourself here, stay connected.
Join my email list and I’ll let you know when the next Seeing Through the Self Illusion experience opens.
How I Guide This Work

For more than fourteen years I have guided seekers in seeing through the illusion of a separate self.
The approach I use is simple and precise.
Through direct pointing and careful inquiry, attention is guided back to immediate experience so that you can verify truth for yourself.
I will help you stay focused, notice when you have moved from looking into thinking about the answer, and point you back to where to look.
The emphasis always remains on your own seeing.
I cannot give you the recognition. But I can show you where to look.
What This Leads To
Seeing through the self illusion can bring a deep sense of relief and simplicity.
Thought can lose some of its authority. Life can become less effortful.
But recognition is not the end.
It can open a deeper phase of exploration, where emotional patterns, conditioning and old wounds can be met more directly.
This is not the end of the journey. It is the beginning of seeing from a different place.

A Simple Truth
What you are looking for is already here.
Only the assumption of a separate self needs to be seen through.
Frequently Asked Questions
It is a recognition, not a special experience or a permanent state. Experiences come and go, while this is a clear seeing of how experience already works. What changes is how life is understood and lived.
Thoughts and emotions continue to arise, just as before. The difference is that they are no longer taken personally or believed to define who you are. This often brings more space, ease, and responsiveness.
No special practices are required. Direct pointing works with what is already happening in your experience. Openness, honesty, and willingness to look are what matter most.
No. Personality, preferences, and relationships remain intact. What falls away is the belief that there is a separate self managing or owning life.
For some, there is an immediate sense of relief or clarity; for others, the change is subtle and noticed over time. Seeing is the beginning of a deeper integration, where old patterns and conditioning continue to unwind naturally.
What Students Are Saying
Iain
“The last session, where we emphasized on the truth of no self had a certain effect on me. I recommend the course. It can help with understanding things more clearly. It helps to bring focus on many important pointers. Helping you understand where to “look” and how. Covers many aspects of the “journey” – dealing with whatever might come up (emotions , past patterns. Each session contains so many important points to ponder upon (which can go deep). Rest is seeker’s desire and efforts to take it forward.
Also having an amazing guide who can answer your questions is a very…
Ratnesh
“Lots of seeking! A lot of anxiety and confusion I joined this course because I’ve reached a point in my spiritual journey where I want to look deeper and find out who I really am.”
Marie
Life is happening by itself. No doer or manager is needed, and that’s what is already. There’s no need to learn traditions or concepts—all pointers are distilled to simplify what may be confusing.
Emma
The biggest insight was neutralizing so many ‘enemies within,’ followed by the fact that things are just happening. Subtle shifts, but a gradual backwards foray into extraordinariness. It feels liberating, peaceful, and exciting all at once.
James
My biggest insight was there is no doer. Looking back on my life I have definitely been looked after anyway. The biggest difference is watching my thoughts and emotions instead of identifying with them.
Rosa
I’ve become more humble about enlightenment. Sometimes it’s so simple that one overlooks it. I felt particularly comfortable because of the unobtrusive nature of this course—I always felt understood.
Marcus
That the self who is looking for the illusory self is only there in thought. The shift has been a sense of knowing some aspects of this more truly. It feels like I’m dissolving some layers of the conditioned story.
Sophie
The exercise around talking to your heart and mind made me more peaceful. I felt a small shift when I realized we are not in control. My periphery view got cloudy and white, and no new thoughts entered for a brief moment.
Alex
“I already had glimpses of clear seeing before this program, but the course, with its intriguing questions, has further clarified the fog surrounding the illusory self.”
Caroline
“I’d been seeking for many years and initially had had some realisations but having been listening to numerous different teachings over the years I felt I was getting more conflicted ideas and moving further away from seeing the truth.”
Jo
